I ran into this problem with our os x server. Since I couldn't find any answer using google and the examine in this forum so I thought I'd post it here. When some of my colleagues displace files in an FTP folder the server (for some reason) converts those files to the bin extension. So when a client tries to transfer that file from our server he can't open it. My colleagues displace files in the FTP folder by connecting to the server through afp and than dragging and dropping the files.
